My name is Morgane Gillard, I am a PhD in Plant Ecology who’s in love with science and enjoys explaining complex concepts with visuals. After 8 years of research experience, I founded EffiScientiFig to design figures adapted to your scientific communication needs.
I started creating vector graphics to illustrate my research: studying aquatic plants, I often lacked simple but accurate visuals showing the details I needed about my species of interest. I felt the addition of these illustrations greatly enhanced the aesthetic of my work and found my results easier to communicate.
At the same time, my enthusiasm for data visualization was growing with the constant will to make fitted graphs that best show key results. I noticed how much striking visuals can catch audience attention and send a message that will be remembered.
At some point, I realized how much I like designing scientific visuals and help people to efficiently advertise science through this mean.
I had the opportunity to use my experience to produce journal article figures and graphical abstracts for researchers who were interested in telling stories via vector images conceived with scientific rigor and attention to detail.
With my interest in scientific visualization, I took part in projects such as the elaboration of a step-by-step protocol to promote informative visualization of enriched gene ontology terms and guide people in using the R software, and the development of interactive web interfaces that allow dynamic data visualization.
Also owning an AD in Biology and Environmental Science and an MSc in Agronomy, my broad and varied education enables me to cover a wide range of topics related to biology and other scientific fields.
My knowledge and interests are guided by my curiosity, and I’m already interested in finding out more about your research topics!
When I am not conceptualizing figures or reading about science, I love knitting, bouldering and watching plants grow.
